MSI wind u1000x

The u1000x is the modified version of the original MSI Wind u100, only cheaper. Why? Unlike its predecessor, it doesn’t come with a pre-installed windows OS with it and an internal buetooth device. But other than that, it’s pretty much the same as the previous model. And hey, this newer version’s hard drive is twice as big as the previous one! Priced at Php 20,000 (max), MSI wind u100x is what I’m planning to buy as a replacement for this borrowed Fujitsu Lifebook I’m currently using.

Actual message from Globe,

“GCASH: Ang 10% rebate sa GCASH, ngayon 15% na! Until Sept. 23, buy load w/ GCASH and get 15% back! To buy load, txt LOAD and send to 2882. To send load to other # txt LOAD and send to 2882+10-digit# of recipient. P1/txt. DTI1190. Call 2882 for info.”

Here’s a tip to my fellow text addicts:
buy 1000 worth of load (good for 2 months) via gcash to…
- receive 250 of free texts
- plus a rebate of P150

So for a total of 1250 of load, you will only get to spend Php 850!
Mas tipid kesa patingi-tingi, kung lagi ka namang nagloload, di ba?

Not much of a difference from 2.6.0, for me at least.
Just did the upgrade to get the yellow bar off my panel.
HARHAR.

I’ve been drooling over this phone from the momemnt it was first announced, launched, and to this very day that it has dropped its prices from Php 20,000 to Php 17,300! The cheapest deal (17.3k) I’ve seen was at ebay.ph.

g900

What I really like about this phone is the design, really. Others might hate it, but hey, it pleases my eye! Especially the red one. The touch feature is just a bonus for me. I can live without it. But that said, only if the prices would be cut to at least a third. Haha.

Sony Ericsson G900 comes with a 5mp cam, wifi, and a bluetooth of course. For the complete specs, read here.

Good news to everyone, especially to those who participate on PTC programs. We can now withdraw our AlertPay funds to our local bank accounts! Right right. Paypal bank codes can also be used in AlertPay. so there. But the last time I checked, we can only receive them on dollar/euro currencies. Aw. Haven’t tried withdrawing, though. And I’m still not familiar with the charges.

(This post will be updated with more facts soon. I just wanted to let everyone now about this news. Cheers!)

Consider this as one of my latest ‘obsessions’: vanity sim cards! They are the easy-to-recall numbers like 0917-5111111, 0929-3000000, 0922-6669999 etc. Though also referred to as ’special sim cards’, the card itself has no special feature or whatsoever. What you’d be spending on here is just for the numbers. *wink*

I’ve started collecting a few just this year, I think. I have bought like 4 already — 2 Smart sims, 1 TM, and 1 SunCellular sim card. Most of the time, I buy at ebay. Prices there range from Php300 - Php40,000, depends on how ’special’ the number is.

I have yet to buy a Globe sim, though. On the average, they are priced at Php500 - Php1,000. And lucky me, the ones I want are priced 1,000 up! The 500’s do not appeal much to me. Ugh! But I’m really really hesitant to spend a thousand bucks just for a tiny card. But wtf I so want the number! Argh, I’m torn.

Lalo akong naghinayang nung may nabasa kong reaction na, “para san ba ang vanity numbers, eh may phonebook naman?!” Nice one, kuya!

Mom’s ‘New’ Phone

nokia 6120 - blackThe other day, me and my sister accompanied our mom at Greenhills Center for she [mom] wanted to buy herself a new phone. She traded her n70 for another s60. And what do you know, she bought the black version of my phone, thank you very much. Now, there’s already three 6120 c’s in the family — my sister’s, mine, and now, her’s, in chronological order. LoL.

She was supposed to get the white version, just like ours, but the cheapest offer she received was that for the black one.

Oh, well. I guess I’ll have to end it here. One more write-up about this phone, and chances are, I’ll be stumbling upon more and more people who got exactly the same phone as I do. Not that I mind. LoL.

Free Hosting at 000webhost.com

In line with my previous post about searching for a new host, I recently got myself a hosting account at 000webhost.com (triple zero’s). It’s a freehost, actually. I’ve been hearing positive reviews about them, so might as well try it out myself. Curious [and bored] as I was, I signed up. My sites hosted with them are my ‘fun blogs’, only created to test the host’s uptime. Sshhh. And so far, they’re doing good. Reports show they’ve got 100% uptime.

My only complain against them would probably be about their claim of providing cPanel to their free hosted clients:

free cPanel hostinggo to cPanel

Looking at their integrated control panel [see photo below], it may resemble cPanel… somehow, but it’s not really it. We all know that “cPanel” is a brand name of a certain control panel, so why label it exactly as such, if it’s not it?

not cPanel

Nonetheless, I find theirs very neat and comfortable to use, unlike the messy stuck up panel most free hosts provide us with.

Ads tell us, even the ones which directly came from them, that 000webhost gives out only 250mb of disk space, but after signing up, I’ve noticed that it’s actually 350. Out of all their inconsistencies, this one’s the coolest!

Host Hunting :p

Since my hosting contract at Crucialwebhost would be over come the last week of November, I’ve been starting to look for a good place to move into. I know, 3 months are still a long way to go. But with my current financial status, I’ve got to secure everything as early as possible. Crucial has raised their plans to $20/month. Well, even if they didn’t, I still wouldn’t stay with them. In all fairness to CrucialWebhost, their services have really been great. Still, their previous rate of $9+ a month is too much for me. I’ve only got small sites! And the only reason why I was able to avail of their package was when they launched their $100 off promo, giving me only $18 to pay for a whole year of web hosting. And now that it’s no longer valid, I’ve got to search for a new host already.

Hostgator or Hostmonster would be a good choice. But they are the priciest ones on my list, even with coupons/discount links. Hostnine and Ipower are my second bet. Hostnine includes a dedicated IP on their shared hosting plan, just like what Crucialwebhost has provided me with, which is a really sweet feature if you ask me. Both hosts have an anual price that plays just around $40-$50. I’ve even stumbled upon this blogger that gives a $50 (previously $40) rebate if you sign up at Ipower using his referral link. With it, I am only to pay $10 for my first year. Hmmm… I better have a second look at this one, and check how this affiliate program woks. I might join myself. Hehe.

Below is a list of some web hosts I’m considering signing up with. It might help you out, too. By the way, if you’ve got better hosts in mind, just let me know, I’m open to more options.

Surely, there are a lot of ways now to download videos from the popular youtube.com, but let me just share here the one I use the most — the ‘hunter’ way. lol. NetVideoHunter only works for FireFox users. It’s a browser add-on, actually. So if you’re not one of us, just skip this, and go to the 2nd method. We won’t mind.

  • First of, you need to get NetVideouHunter from their homepage at netvideohunter.com. You can also download it from Mozilla’s site, just be sure you’re logged in.
  • Like any other add-ons, after installing, you would have to restart FireFox for it to take effect.
  • Once the nvh button appears on your status bar, your NVH is ready to hunt!
  • To use it, you would have to play first the video you would like to download.
  • Beside the play button is a counter which tells you how many files are there that can be downloaded. Click the button once the counter turns 1 or more.
  • Select from a list of files the one that you wish to get. Hit download. Save and Enjoy!

(Be guided that NetVideoHunter is still on its experimental state as a firefox extension.)

But if you’re not a FireFox user, or do not wish to download any thirdparty app on your computer, you can also try visiting clipnabber.com. You just need to have the url of the video you wish to get, “nab” it at clipnabber, then save. Easy, right?

(Aside from YouTube vids, these methods can also extract videos from other Youtube-like sites.)
